During the Corona Virus Shutdown

How we at Hope will continue to care for each other

The staff at Hope will continued to be paid through the month of March. We still need their help now as much as ever.

The church building will remain closed till March 29th or until the official Do-Not-Gather is lifted. The church still has financial obligation during this closure, mortgage, utilities and salaries. Please continue your giving. You can set up automatic giving using your bank’s online bill pay or from our website (hope-umc.us) by clicking on the green online giving button to set up an account.  You can also mail your check to: Hope United Methodist Church, PO Box 624, Edwardsburg, MI 49112.

The Leadership Team is pleased to tell you that we have accepted the appointment of Pastor Nate Starkey and family. To accommodate our new young pastor and family of five, we will provide them with housing. The Edwardsburg rental market is slim. Before we can purchase a parsonage, we will need a church vote. After selling the old parsonage (that was in much need of extensive repair) the church has a balance of $104,000 to put toward the purchase of a new parsonage.  In the Edwardsburg housing market that amount is about half what we need to purchase a home for pastor Nate and family. We anticipate that annual costs of a parsonage will be in line with the monthly housing allowance that we have been paying Pastor Scott.  We as a community of faith will need to consider how best to accomplish this.

Pastor Scott has been posting a short audio message every other day. I have been using it as part of my devotional, I encourage you to listen also.

The Leadership Team is on a steep learning curve on how to best serve the church, now. We ask you to call or text your friends from church during this shutdown. Social media is another way to keep together. The church website is another. Please keep us up to date on your needs.
